Former Tesla AI Director, OpenAI founding team
The OG AI researcher reflects on a meta-experiment: drafted a blog post, used an LLM to strengthen the argument over 4 hours — then asked it to argue the opposite. It demolished the original argument just as convincingly. His takeaway: LLMs are excellent at arguing any direction, which makes them useful for stress-testing your own opinions — but watch out for the sycophancy. Treat them as adversarial debate partners, not validators.

Hot take on agent products: "A good agent product should be able to do things that its creator did not think it could do." Contrasts with internet-era products where you design all functionalities upfront. For agents, you unleash them and they surprise you. Also: "Human context window is the new wall."

Four years ago he coined "the 1000x engineer" — now it's playing out: AI enables everyone to build apps, leaving the best engineers to go deeper on platform work and expand what's possible. The division of labor in AI tooling is accelerating.

The false equivalence trap: "False equivalence killed my first devtools startup." Most people spread effort equally but the world runs on power laws. Rules: bet small, keep reversibility, double down early when right.
